Day 4 - Great Smoky Mountains

Yesterday it would rain when we drove, but whenever it was time to get off for sightseeing, the rain would quit and the sun would come out. By the end of the day we had a downpour with more in the forecast. But today, we were blessed with a day of absolutely perfect weather. It wasn't to hot or to cold, it was sunny, and there were no bugs. We really enjoyed our day of being outdoors.
The first stop was at the Old Mill, along the Little Pigeon River. We toured the still-active mill and learned the differences between corn meal and grits. After some time to explore the shops in the complex surrounding the mill, the rest of our day was spent at Dollywood. This 135-acre theme park has music shows. Most of us saw a few, but the really organized determined people made it to six or seven different shows. There are also rides, crafts and beautiful landscaping with azaleas, rhododendrons and magnolia trees in bloom. Just sitting on a bench and people-watching was entertaining. This evening we went to the Black Bear Jamboree, a classy dinner show with music from the 50's and the 70's plus country, Broadway and Gospel. - Laurel Johnson- Tour Director
