Today we enjoyed a half day tour or upper Manhattan, including 5th Ave shops, Top of The Rock at Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Harlem, Grant’s Tomb and a beautiful little park in Central Park.
This afternoon we have free time to enjoy shopping on 5th Ave, some of us are going to the Broadway Show Mama Mia and many of are going to get half-price tickets for the theater for this evening.
The Bright lights of Times Square and the people are a sight to see. See you on Broadway!
Day 3
Today was a very busy day we started early touring lower Manhattan, including Wall Street and the financial district. As soon as it opened we took the ferry over to the Statue of Liberty. It really is a awe-inspiring sight. Do you know why it’s green? Due to the oxidization of the copper. We spent a couple of hours at Ellis Island learning the history of immigration through it’s’ halls. One of our ancestors names were listed on the walls as entering the United States. Many of us will be doing a genealogy search when we get home.
The stop at Ground Zero was thought provoking as we stared into the gaping hole left by the Twin Towers that fell on September 11th. We saw the plans for the new memorial and the American Express Memorial to their lost employees. After a great dinner in Little Italy we headed back to our Times Square hotel.
