Today our cruise ship docks in Ketchikan, known as the salmon capital of Alaska. It is a beautiful sunshiny day, which is very unusual for a city know to receive 160 inches of rainfall a year.
A couple of our guests went fishing today and got their limit of salmon. Many of our guests went on tours to learn more about the heritage of this area. There are many totem poles that help tell the story of the early Native Americans that settled this area. There is also a tour that highlights the crab fishing industry in this area, the boat we were on has been featured in the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" show. The fishermen's tales of the sea were fascinating.
