We arrived in Fairbanks last night for our two night stay here. Last night some of us went to the famous "Salmon Bake", some of us went to explore the University of Alaska Museum and some of us ventured downtown to "Soapie Smiths Restaurant." This very unique local restaurant told us much about the early history of this area.
This morning we got to experience gold panning as it was in the days of old. Most of our group was pretty lucky and found gold in the bottom of their pans. This afternoon we're off to experience a Riverboat cruise on the now very swollen (due to all the rain) Chena River.
