The last day of a tour brings so many conflicting thoughts. We were looking at the snow-covered fields and remembering fields of sugar cane and carrots. We read the outside temperature and remembered days in the high 80s. We thought about going home to prepare our own meals and remembered the Texas barbecue and the meal at Amberjack's. We thought about all the dirty laundry to wash and remembered the man at one hotel who washed his blanket every day and who absolutely had to have privacy when folding his clean clothes. We thought about the newspapers and mail that had accumulated while we were gone and remembered that we now have 50 new friends to possibly add to our address books. Tomorrow morning, no wake up call and no setting out the luggage. We're all on our own! And yet we've been enriched and our lives are fuller for all the wonderful experiences of this Texas tour. - Laurel Johnson - Tour Escort
