Day 2 Cherry Blossom Tour

The weather said "April Fool" to us today! After a night of hearing the
wind blowing over 30 mph, we woke up to temperatures that were much
different than yesterday afternoon. The high was 41 degrees, and with the
wind, it was cold, cold, cold. We were, however, reminded that spring is
coming with fields of bright green winter wheat, subtle, pale green
showing on pastures and lawns and a few crocuses blooming in Indianapolis.

Our sightseeing highlight today was a stop at the Speedway in
Indianapolis. We rode around the 2 1/2 mile track, saw some of the brick
that are responsible for its nickname. "The Brickyard," and saw the new
motorcycle race track that is being completed. The museum had the car
that won the first Indy 500 in 1911, recent cars, trophies and all sorts
of displays related to the business of racing. Laurel Johnson - Tour Director

Our on-the-bus entertainment has been the movie, "Spirit of St. Louis."
We started watching it yesterday and turned it off while Jimmy Stewart
(Charles Lindbergh) was flying solo over the Atlantic Ocean. People
really wanted to see the rest of the story today! Hopefully they will
really enjoy seeing the actual plane in the Smithsonian's Air and Space
Museum now that they've watched the movie.

So we're looking forward to sights in Washington D.C. as well as thinking
about what play to see in New York City. People have their list of
current performances with descriptions so they can plan ahead. But before
either of those stops, our goal tomorrow is Gettysburg.
