Niagara Falls - Day 2

This morning we started with a wonderful buffet breakfast as well as the general manager of the hotel arriving to make sure everything had gone well for our unexpected Rockford stay. It certainly had. The sun was out, and it was a lovely day for our drive through Chicago. Saturday
traffic was light, and we were doing well. Until the five lanes of traffic came to a halt. We were stopped for nearly an hour. It gave us a chance to watch interesting traffic patterns as people attempted to use the shoulder to make progress. We also watched emergency vehicles attempt
to get through to what turned out to be an accident scene ahead of us.

We continued on to the Indiana Welcome Center for a fun morning break. Besides coffee ready for us, they had a "Trash to Treasures" exhibit (using recycled materials to create art) and a video on the Indiana Dunes.

Our drive took us past vineyards and orchards and through miles of forested land. This afternoon we were heading to Detroit when we hit yet another interstate slowdown! This time it was for a short stretch of construction, but by the time two lanes funnel down to one, we again lost quite a bit of time.

Eventually we arrived in Detroit, crossed the beautiful Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Ontario, and arrived at our hotel. It has a million dollar view of the river, river traffic, and Detroit. Restaurants in the area, a casino within two-three blocks and a beautiful waterfront park across the street are giving everyone something to do this evening. - Laurel Johnson, Tour Director
