Niagara Falls - Day 7

Eating our complimentary breakfast this morning while watching the rain come down, we counted our blessings at having had a dry day for Mackinac Island yesterday. We crossed the 5-mile Mackinac Bridge into the Upper Peninsula and had Lake Michigan shoreline scenery for much of the morning. In fact, our noon meal was at a restaurant right by the lake. By then,
we had driven into sunshine, so the setting was stunning. By late afternoon we were in Wisconsin where we found Rusty, Judy, and four beauifully harnassed Percheron horses. We boarded wagons and rode slowly through the woods to a clearing with cabins and a wedding chapel. Our dinner was excellent, and Judy told stories. We heard about how their family is the 5th generation to own the property along the creek and how the early Irish lived on one side of the creek, the French on the other, and how one of her relatives had the courage to marry someone from the other side. It was a fun evening. - Laurel Johnson, Tour Director
