This morning 51 passengers eagerly boarded with the vision of "Door County" in the near horizon. The first item of conversation on the agenda was "the weather report" for our five days on the road...and it is in our favor...clear skies/70 degree weather..and we're all "good to go!" Several on board recognized fellow travelers from trips they had previously taken with Southwest Tour & Travel. For the new friends waiting to be met we had several opportunities today to meet and mix with each other. Trust us..it was FUN!
Our first stop today was immediately after we crossed the St. Croix River in Hudson, WI. We enjoyed a delightful noon meal at the German Restaurant "Winzer Stube." Marie Schmidt, who immigrated to the United States from Germany in the 1980's welcomed us to her restaurant and now we have made a new friend, we really enjoyed some of her charming stories.
Our afternoon arrival in Green Bay, WI provided a "surprise" stop en route to our hotel; Lambeau Field Atrium! We enjoyed having our photos taken beside statues of team founder Curly Lambeau and legendary coach Vince Lombardi. I overheard one lady make the comment, "I can't believe I'm actually here...this is awesome!" She was the same lady who came out of the pro shop, along with others, toting memorabilia from the GREEN BAY PACKERS!
Tomorrow brings the anticipation of walking through the door of "Door County." Patty Cole - Tour Director
