During the night we had lots of rain and thunder. It was dry for putting bags on and leaving this morning, but then we drove through very heavy rains. After maybe an hour, it began to clear, and by our morning break it was 60 degrees and just windy. The farther we drove today, the more spring-like our surroundings became. Farmers were out in the field, there were fields of bright green, the leaves are beginning to come out, and spring flowers were blooming: crocus, daffodils and hyacinth.
By the time we got to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, it was 73 degrees and sunny. We all took an exciting and informative ride around the 2 1/2 mile track and then spent time in the museum. The cars on display included race cars from the early years, collector cars and one recent race car that people could crawl in and have a picture taken. Even people not interested in racing enjoyed the varied and interesting displays. Our stay tonight is in Springfield, OH.
