Christmas in Branson Nov. 17 - 22 Day 4

Brrr! We had a big temperature drop today to 30 with a wind chill. But our first stop at Stone Hill Winery warmed us up.

From there we went back to the Mansion Theater for a Broadway-style musical, "Celebrate America." The entire history of the United States was told with fabulous sets, costumes, music, singing and dancing. Twenty actors/dancers/singers took us through the Revolutionary War, Westward movement, the Civil War, World Wars, and eras in between. It was a quality
presentation that had many saying, "All of America should see this."

After lunch we drove to College of the Ozarks, known as "Hard Work University." Our first stop was at the Ralph Foster Museum. Three floors of displays were too much to see in one visit, but we could choose everything from a tiny local cabin and early farming equipment to musical
instruments, African or Arctic animals, birds, antiques and art. Then a young woman took us on a tour of the college of the campus with stops at the church (beautifully decorated for Christmas) and the fruitcake and jelly kitchen, past the dairy and ending at the mill. Some of us bought
freshly ground flour or cornmeal while others went into the greenhouses and the orchid collection.

We drove back to Branson by way of back roads. We saw Lake Taneycomo, Table Rock Dam, Table Rock Lake and the area's curving roads, hills and trees.

This evening we saw Shoji Tabuchi, who plays everything from country fiddle to classical violin, all on the same instrument. The finale with flying angels is always most impressive.-Laurel Johnson, Tour Director
