Christmas in Branson - November 11-16 Day 4

A late departure this morning gave us a chance to sleep in or linger over a last cup of coffee. It was sunny out when we arrived at our morning show, the Brett Family. They are talented performers: great voices, good dancers, beautiful costumes, and the two children play at least one instrument. The daughter, who is their choreographer and who usually does a lot of dancing in the show, was in a cast, but still performed on crutches. The son is an amazing basketball handler and demonstrated his skills.

We came out of the show to find that the weather had changed to a cold rain. Eventually it stopped raining, but there has been a significant change in the weather.

This afternoon we toured Stone Hill Winery, sampled their products, and had an hour of rest at the hotel. Then it was off to Dixie Stampede. After the fun juggling and balancing pre-show, we went into the huge horseshoe-shaped arena for one of their three shows of the day. We were
on the side of the North Pole elves. The people across the arena were the South Pole. All the people in the show had on colors from one or the other, and the competition continued until the end. There were horse races, ostrich races, and pig races. Kids from the audience were chosen
to shoo chickens down the arena floor, seeing which one would cross the finish line first. Four couples were chosen to race horses. Except they turned out to be stick horses instead of the real ones. Throughout all the fun and excitement, we ate and ate. Delicious food. Without any
silverware!

From there we headed straight to the Lawrence Welk Theater for our last show featuring Tony Orlando and the Lennon Sisters. The theater was almost full, and it was obvious that everyone was a fan. The music was nostalgic, the performers looked great, and it was fun to sing along with a couple of the songs. Tony does a wonderful patriotic segment, as it was a mixture of old favorites and Christmas songs. The finale was having Santa Claus as part of the show. As he was leaving the stage, he noted that he was disappointed about one thing: he didn't see any Nativity
scene. So he gave one to Tony and instructed him to keep it out for everyone to see.
