Brrr, it was cold today. In fact, after leaving Branson this morning, we drove in snow flurries for a few miles.
At our morning stop we tried some of over 200 kinds of cheeses, including chocolate cheese. Our lunch stop was at a meat market.
Then it was on to Kansas City, MO and the Liberty Memorial and National World War I Museum. The Memorial and Tower have been open since 1926, but the Museum just opened 18 months ago. It is an amazing collection of authentic WW I memorabilia. Many volunteers, two movies, and more information than we could absorb make this a place we could revisit. Some of us rode the elevator to the top of the 217-foot tower for a great view of Kansas City. Unfortunately, at one point the elevator quit working. Some of our group had to climb up out of the elevator, while others who were trapped at the top, had to walk down many, many steps to the bottom. Some of them are in the hot tub tonight, soothing muscles they didn't know they had!
We drove through the heart of Kansas City before heading to St. Joseph. Some Russell Stover chocolate and a welcome reception at the hotel ended a day that was more exciting than we had expected.- Laurel Johnson, Tour Director
